It is time for Roblox to allow us to port our Roblox Experiences to different 3d gaming platforms on the internet such as Unity, Polytoria, Second Life, Godot Engine, Core by Manticore Games, Unreal Engine, and other Lua-scripting-supported 3D world applications—without restrictions, fees, or punitive measures.
We our concerned that Roblox will mess up our Experiences and give us no way to move all our hard work off of their platform.

Roblox has been making sure to prevent us from moving our entire Experiences off of Roblox platform and onto other gaming platforms by the following measures:
- If we export our Place into a obj file using Roblox Studio, the exported texture files are so tiny in resolution (not the original resolution) that if porting to another 3d platform, the place would not look the same as it would on Roblox, a dirty tactic to mess up our ability to export our places off platform.
- If we try to export to GlTF, it allows us to export everything including textures but they restrict it to only textures we have permission to export from other Roblox users. Roblox gives us no method to request permission to export their textures, gives us no option to message other Roblox Devs under the guise to protect the children, Roblox will not let us directly send messages to other Roblox devs. So, requesting permission to export their assets is IMPOSSIBLE. I have paid for Roblox maps and I am not allowed to even export the textures to another platform without permission while making it impossible to get permission. Another dirty tactic of Roblox to prevent the porting of an experience to another platform.
- I asked the Bing Copilot AI system if I could port my Roblox Experiences to another platform. it flat out told me, NO. It said I will have to start my Experiences over from scratch. So even the AI said that I cannot export my places to another platform.
Roblox is by definition, a MONOPOLY. They have a monopoly on created Roblox 3D world Experiences so then they can mistreat their customers, ban their customers, delete their customer’s experiences for little to no good reason, give them no due process at all when accused of a rule violation and rig the appeals to be constant DENIALS with using AI moderation, and Roblox can even retaliate and destroy years of hard work and effort on Roblox. If you complaint, Roblox will just destroy your experiences.
Even if you play ball and comply with whatever Roblox demands, they can just wipe out Classic faces, Classic R6 avatars, and even wipe out Classic Clothing. So, you may work hard on all kinds of assets for Roblox and then at the drop of hat, they take it away from you and not even give you compensation/money for it or even a refund. They get away with this by forcing everybody to sign a contract to use their platform. They take away customer rights, and make you follow whatever policies they dictate, not even caring what the customers say in response. Roblox does not let their customers port entire Experiences to another platform, and thus people are controlled and in fear of retaliation by Roblox Corporation.
Roblox has also had a history of stifling competition and using corrupt AI moderation to remove any products competing to their products in their own Marketplace. For example, Roblox charges an enormous sum of money for buying headless horseman allowing avatars to be headless for fun and entertainment during the Halloween season. Other users disagree and created their own headless avatars by calling them “fake headless”. Roblox creates policy and rules forbidding uploading and selling “fake headless” which is not the same as headless horseman, it is a competing product to the headless horseman, but Roblox will not allow it in their own marketplace which is supposed to be neutral. Roblox has removed any competing products from their marketplace, even though they make money off of anything sold in their own marketplace with a 3% tax and any other taxes on other goods and services by Roblox devs and users. Roblox doesn’t care and bans any avatar item competing with any of their products. So, they are fixing the marketplace to be for only the benefit of Roblox while advertising that they are a creative platform, and that you can sell anything you want on Roblox Marketplace as long as it complies with their rules. Rules forbidding anything competing with their expensive products is a anti-trust behavior. It is market manipulation, market rigging, and creates the perception that Roblox is fair and just with their users/devs as long as you follow their rules, but that is not true at all. See article Roblox has violated anti-trust law of the United States of America by banning fake headless – Angel Girl Brianna.
Roblox is acting as a defacto monopoly. Usually with a web host, if they don’t like your content as a private company, they can take down your website but will allow you to port your website to another web host. Usually the web hosts allow backups of your website and email content so that if you get banned from a web host, you can always port your website to another web host, no problem usually. With Roblox, they will just destroy your game, destroy your Experience, and argue that they can do whatever they want to their paying customers as a private company. This is clearly a thuggish type of business practice. A regular business would not behave in such a manner.
Imagine for arguments sake if you buy furniture from Walmart, the receipt checker allows you to leave the store, then a few months later a Walmart employee comes to your home with the Sheriff’s deputies to take away what you paid for, and then Walmart argues that you agree to a contract by shopping at Walmart (like Roblox) and that at any time they can come to your home and demand they take away your legitimate purchases at any time without a right to sue and without a right to appeal. If Walmart pushed this, people would riot and tear Walmart apart, or there would be countless lawsuits against their perceived contract law, and people would no longer shop at Walmart anymore and would go out of business within months. Imagine if Walmart pulled what Roblox is pulling on a daily basis. I am just making an argument here for example. Walmart is not doing this thuggish practice. But imagine if Walmart acted in the very way which Roblox does, Walmart would be shut down, and lawsuits would be filed all across the board. That would turn Walmart into a slavery outlet violating the 13th Amendment of the United States Constitution. So even though Roblox is a private company, they have to give something for what you paid for otherwise it would be marked as a donation. Roblox is not asking for donations. Roblox is offering an exchange from your currency to robux. Robux is used to buy things from their marketplace. The robux can be converted back into your currency upon signing a contract with the DevEx program. Roblox has to give you something for what you pay for when they advertise and give the perception that you always get something for what you pay for on Roblox. What Roblox is doing right now is violating the Sherman Antitrust Act. Not only are they constantly banning their users for stupid reasons using AI moderation, not caring about the circumstances of their own customers getting enforcement bans, but are also removing paid items from their marketplace and not even fully refunding their customers. Partial refunds are given, and then they tell you about an avatar item you own can no longer be worn and they don’t even tell you what you originally paid for it so they can swindle a few bucks’ aka robux from their customers.
Roblox is clearly engaging in anti-trust practices and monopolistic practices like what Google Play store had done. A federal judge ruled that Google Play Store cannot stifle competition. This means Roblox can be sued next by the Federal Trade Commission over their monopolistic anti-competitive practices.
Here is the text of the Change.org petition (Petition · To FTC: Sue Roblox to allow unrestricted porting of Experiences to competing platforms – United States · Change.org):
The Issue
**Petition to the Federal Trade Commission: Hold Roblox Accountable for Antitrust Practices and Mandate Open Portability for Developers To Port their hard work and Experiences to other platforms**
Dear Federal Trade Commission,
We, the undersigned developers, gamers, and concerned consumers, urge the FTC to investigate and sue Roblox Corporation for engaging in anticompetitive practices that stifle innovation, trap creators in a closed ecosystem, and harm the broader digital economy. Specifically, we call on the FTC to seek a court order compelling Roblox to open its platform, allowing developers to freely port their experiences, assets, and creations to competing platforms such as Unity, Polytoria, Second Life, Godot Engine, Core by Manticore Games, Unreal Engine, and other Lua-scripting-supported 3D world applications—without restrictions, fees, or punitive measures.
Roblox has built a massive user base and developer community by promising a creative haven for building immersive 3D worlds. However, its policies effectively lock developers into the platform, preventing them from exporting their hard-earned work elsewhere. This creates a “walled garden” where creators invest years of effort—designing games, scripting mechanics, and amassing communities—only to find themselves unable to migrate if Roblox’s terms become unfavorable, competition arises, or better opportunities emerge. Such practices not only discourage competition but also exploit developers, forcing them to abandon their intellectual property or start from scratch, sacrificing invaluable time and resources for nothing.
A clear precedent exists for this action. In the landmark ruling in *Epic Games v. Google* (2023), a federal judge determined that Google’s Play Store engaged in antitrust violations by maintaining exclusive control over app distribution and payments. The court mandated that Google open its ecosystem to competing app stores and third-party payment systems, fostering greater choice and innovation for developers and users alike. Roblox’s model mirrors this: It dominates the user-generated 3D gaming space, controlling access to tools like Roblox Studio while prohibiting seamless exports. By applying similar scrutiny, the FTC can ensure Roblox does not evade accountability simply because it targets a younger demographic or frames itself as a “creative platform” rather than a marketplace.
Opening Roblox to portability would yield widespread benefits:
– **Empower Developers**: Creators could leverage their work across multiple platforms, reducing dependency on Roblox’s volatile policies, such as sudden fee hikes or content moderation changes that can devastate livelihoods.
– **Boost Competition**: Platforms like Unity and Polytoria could thrive by attracting migrated experiences, leading to a more diverse and innovative 3D gaming landscape.
– **Protect Consumers**: Users would gain access to beloved games on their preferred platforms, free from Roblox’s monopolistic grip, potentially lowering costs and improving experiences through cross-platform features.
– **Promote Fairness in the Digital Economy**: This move aligns with the FTC’s mission to combat Big Tech’s anticompetitive tactics, preventing Roblox from becoming another unchecked gatekeeper like Google or Apple.
We implore the FTC to act swiftly. Launch an investigation, file suit under the Sherman Antitrust Act and FTC Act, and pursue injunctive relief to mandate open portability. Developers deserve freedom, not captivity. Join us in signing this petition to demand a more open, equitable future for digital creation.
